This week you'll be creating your own photo blogs for CCV's online Digital Photography I. This blog is an example of what yours will look like. This week I'd like you to experiment with posting a comment to a blog, so click on "comment" below this post and add your two cents. Use your imagination or tell us a story about this photo.
This to me looks like a little bird in distress. It looks like it is stuck somewhere and can't get out, and very hungry. At the sight of any presence is very upset and waiting for food.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like one hungry little bird! It reminds me of the robin who builds her nest on my parents deck every single spring. Last summer, once her little ones had hatched from their eggs, every time someone went out on the deck, they'd all pop up with their mouths wide open hoping their Momma had returned with something to fill their bellies! They were adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at this photo, I thought it was some kind of tropical flower with a blurry background, but upon studying a little further I realized it is actually a baby bird. It's very cute! It looks like it just hatched and wants to be fed for the first time. It also looks like it is squishing the other baby underneath it. Poor thing!
ReplyDeleteThis pictures is incredible! It looks like this bird wants first grabs at whatever it's mom is about to drop to them for food. Doesn't really look like the other bird has a chance at first grabs. I too at first thought it was a flower but then saw the eyes and realized it was most defintely a bird. Adorable picture and what an amazing capture!
ReplyDeleteThis picture reminded me of a flower at first. I didnt realize it was a bird until reading the others posts and reexamining the picture. The baby bird seems scared of the camera. However, I blieve the baby bird is extremely hungry and is ready for his/her mother to drop the worm into his mouth.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought this was a flower as well. In taking a second look, this photo reminds me of spring time when the birds being to build their nests and lay their eggs. Then you start to hear the little chirping of the newly hatched baby birds. This little fella does like hungry and is saying "feed me..feed me"...doesn't appear that the others in the nest are all to hungry at the moment. He is ready to get stronger and leave the nest for new adventures of his own.
ReplyDeleteI too thought this was a plant of some sort at first glance. It wasn't until the third or fourth time that my eyes returned to the image that I realized it might be a bird. I love the initial deception of the photograph!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a plant at first too. ha. Taking a closer look showed that it was a bird though. I like this photo because you do have to take a second look at it to figure out what it is which gives it a little excitment. I like that the focus is on the bird's mouth rather than the bird itself.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is amazing! It almost looks as though it is in 3D! I truly hope that I will be able to make my photos works of art too!
ReplyDeleteI really have no idea what this photo is of. First thought was a flower possibly from your trip to the everglades, second thought baby bird looking to be fed a worm. the resolution is amazing on this photo the yellow is nearly a blinding shade.
ReplyDeleteI, among with many others, wasn't sure what I was seeing for a moment. Something with a big yellow spot, but upon closer inspection realized it was the beak of a baby bird popping out at me! That would make a nice 3D picture! I like how much the yellow stands out from the rest of the photo. The beak seems to pop out of the photo completely! Quite a nice shot.

ReplyDeleteHi Lisa!
ReplyDeleteIt's Karen your old friend from grad school and fellow digital photo teacher at CCV. This photo make me long for spring. So much snow lately. It's supposed to be sub zero Feb 4th and 5th - in a record-breaking kind of way.
I love how this bird's beak literally pops out in this photo. Also it's framed in a unique way by the monotone bird and its surroundings. Amazing - like a bulls-eye target for the momma bird.
Sorry I reposted this under my blogger account ;o)
Cute!! Looks like she thought your camera was momma!
ReplyDeleteThank you ALL for your comments. This is one of those lucky shots. I didn't want to bother the babies in the nest which was over my head so held the camera up while standing on a ladder, couldn't really see what I was doing. I did crop a bit in Photoshop though to make the composition what I wanted.
ReplyDeletePlease feed your starving bird ( do not feed it to the cat).
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love this picture. A little because of the bird, however more so because of the contrasts in colors. Coming across these types of images in nature is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis pictures reminds me of my sons when we bring pizza home for dinner. "Me first, me first!I'm the hungriest."
ReplyDeleteThis is a great picture! I love it! The angle that the picture was taken is wonderful and the colors of the bird just makes it pop! Its beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing view. I feel like I should be working food in my mouth to transfer to the baby bird. What a great shot!
